FIRST Robotics Team 2415, The Wiredcats
Team Captain, 2008-2011

In high school, FIRST robotics and the Wiredcats were my passion. I joined the team as a freshman, during it's inaugural year. I loved spending late nights in the shop, tinkering with our design in hopes of building a competitive robot. Although our robot was seeded 8th at the Peachtree Regional that year, a rookie award won us an invitation to the international championship event. There, I was blown away the quality and craftsmanship of the top teams. I made it my goal to build an internationally competitive robot before graduating from high school. Throughout my four years, I learned design and manufacturing skills, recruited team mentors and machine shop sponsors, and pushed the team to always strive for more. We were making some pretty kick-ass robots by the time I was a senior.

My most proud achievements as a Wiredcat include:

  • Founding member and three year team captain of First Robotics Team 2415
  • 1st Place winner of four regional events as well as other engineering awards
  • Dean’s List Regional Award winner for outstanding student leadership
  • Lead Solidworks designer and CNC machinist
  • Acquired team workspace and developed student run machine shop
